I started On Topic back at the end of 2024 with no real goal in mind, I just knew I wanted/needed a creative outlet that was outside of my work. On Topic, and Substack as a whole, felt like a place where I could finally flex and stretch my writing wings after years of dormancy. All I needed was something to write about.
Prior to all this happening, I spent two and a half years owning and operating a personal chef company out of Boston. After a few (incomplete) rounds of The Artist's Way during that time, I realized that being a chef was my version of a shadow artist. I sold my business and I have been in my own version of a "rebuild year" since. I've been dabbling in writing of all forms, from short stories to screenplays and novels, and other creative pursuits, particularly fibers and collage. I'm reconnecting with what brings me joy and I want to give other people the opportunity to talk about their joyous pursuits as well. This led to my new project for my Substack, the On Topic interviews.
The On Topic interview is part micro podcast, part written interview where I chat with a guest about a specific topic of interest or specialty of theirs. It’s all about celebrating what makes people happy and excited.
I have been incredibly lucky to speak with absolutely fantastic people so far, and I can’t wait for you to dive into their topics!!
The joy starts next Tuesday, September 9th, and new interviews will publish weekly going forward. Here on Substack you’ll find a written version of the interview, along with some fun graphics inspired by the 2000’s celebrity interviews in Cosmopolitan and Glamour magazines. The video of the interviews will also be published on YouTube, and linked here in the Substack post (and vice versa.) Don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss an interview!!
